Reddit Dart League - Week 4

This was actually played on the same day as Week 3 - we have gotten a bit behind in our division and playing catch up!

I felt a lot better about this match, not just because I managed to sneak a leg, but I felt like I was throwing a little more consistently.

I had a chance for a second leg, needing 81 I hit the T15, landed inside on the D18, and missed outside on the D9. Unfortunately for me, my opponent was on a single dart finish and hit it with one dart.

I am sitting happily on the bottom of the league, but having fun and not aching too much.

Reddit Dart League - Week 3

I felt this match went much worse than my numbers suggest, especially that First 9 average. I spent far too much time barely being able to hit a 30+ score and a 100 and a 140 flattered to deceive.

I really need to work on my scoring and consistency. No use practising doubles if I never get to them!

NDD! - Datadart Black 22g

I saw a review of these on r/Darts a few days ago, and as quick as that they were in my basket at Darts Corner and then just as quickly they were on my doormat!

DartsPlanetTV Review

Obviously I've only had them for a few hours, but the grip on them is amazing and they are flying really well for me. Hopefully after a few more sessions with them they will start to really click, but I'm fairly certain these are my new match darts!

[edit - 2020/02/07] Have had a few hours throwing them now and to be honest, it has been a little up and down. I'm back throwing the again today, and have shifted my grip forward slightly which has fixed a few things.

I really like the look of them and the grip, so I want them to work for me!

Reddit Dart League - Week #2

I had a bye last week, so last night was my first match of the season. Games are played Best of 8, with the draw possible (like the Premier League!)

First off, the result and stats (I am PsychologicalChain):

Well, as you can see I lost 😧 but there are some good things there! Two 100s, two 125s, and a 140 aren't bad. My best and worst leg was much better than my opponents and my average was slightly better.

I was outscored where it mattered though, and they broke my throw at 3-2 to have the darts to win - which they promptly did!

Overall I am pleased with my return to the league. I hadn't played since the summer of last year, nor have I been practising for the length of time a match tends to be because of my hernia (this one took about 45 minutes). It hurt and ached a lot to stand for that amount of time, but I did it and am still alive!

Punching your Flights

A little question that came up on Reddit than I ended up spending a little time on making a few pictures and a guide for:
I have failed to understand this concept. Where do you punch the hole, and do you put the spring through the hole?
Of course, first of all, you need to get yourself a Flight Punch, I have a Harrows punch I got from Darts Corner, but other models are available from other vendors, they all do the same basic thing so buy whatever is cheapest. They are designed to accurately punch a standard size flight, but with a steady hand, you can punch any flight you choose.

First, push the flight into the opening of the punch until it is seated nice and evenly. You'll end up with a rectangular hole, just above the bottom of your flight.

Then all you have to do is spread your flight out as usual and push your ring/spring through the newly punched hole.

The last thing is to slide your flight onto the stem as normal, and feel that ring grip tight and keep it secured to the stem.

My Collection

So I did a little thing for r/Darts on Reddit - these are the main collection of darts I throw, along with my match darts.
